ILLUMINATED SIGNAGE WITH SMARTLITE LED PRODUCTS
Innovation and Creativity knows no bounds in the exciting world of LED Signage. The illumination of signs has gained significant popularity in recent years, with the increase of brand identity conscious Corporations attempting to differentiate themselves from the crowd. They are looking beyond initial costs of a sign to the real "cost of ownership", and to the tangible benefits of safety, long life, reliability, reduced power costs and low maintenance.
The trend towards brighter, attention grabbing lighting, together with animation has led to considerable growth in the application of LED strips in fascia lighting, Channel lighting or fabricated letters, and general signage. .
We are seeing a dramatic increase in the use of LED technology in the Signage Industry as Sign Makers appreciate the benefits of working with LEDs. More importantly the customers are driving the led change demanding leds due to their much lower power consumption, greenhose effect and operating costs.

LED ACRYLIC OR METAL LETTERS
LED Signage are continuing to provide the sign industry with an alternative to conventional fluorescent and neon lighting methods. Using acrylic or metal letters which come in a variety of shapes, fonts and colours it is a simple process of installing the LED strips, Flexleds or Flextape as desired into the letters using clips, tacks or in the case of tape just gluing it on. Led letters provide stunning visual effects without the hassles associated with neon and fluoros. LEDs are now being used by some of the biggest names in marketing and their use continues to gain momentum throughout the world in the Sign Industry.
The outstanding advantages of LED Signs are;-
- Low Voltage - reduced Public Liability
- Virtually no heat generated - reduced air conditioning and reduced
- risk of fire
- Long life and reduced maintenance costs
- 10% of normal lighting costs - reduced power costs and lower green house effects
- Easy to install - reduced installation costs
- Available for front lit, side lit and Halo lit signs
- Available in all colours including RGB colour change and animation
Consequently some shopping centres are now banning the use of neon in certain applications and encouraging shop owners to move to Led for signs, downlights edge lighting and pelemet lighting.

LED - Bordered Lighting Suitable for Signage, Perimeter lighting, Cove or Display Lighting - LED Border lighting provides stunning visual effects in pure, rich colours.
LED Border lighting consists of LEDs mounted inside a translucent plastic housing, which can be sealed at each end against the elements. A series of these units can be mounted end to end along the roof or around the perimeter of a building, to produce a bright, continuous contour of light, similar to neon lights, but consuming only a fraction of the power, and impervious to hail, bird, or water damage.
Borderled lighting is available with high luminous intensity, in a variety of colours- red, yellow, orange, green, blue and white. It is easily installed on any surface with a minimal surface penetration and is built to withstand the harshest environments.
With the high energy efficiency of led lights stunning effects are possible with a very low power consumption on 10th of the cost of normal Neon lights. One of the biggest advantages for leds in signage is the elimination of fires being started by signs as happens with the high voltages that neon works at.

Neon Replacement LEDs and Fibre Optics are being seen more and more, as a logical replacement for Neon.
The energy intensive manufacturing process, the gases used in its operation, and the power usage of neon - are some of the features attracting the attention of environmentalists and those searching for energy efficiencies around the world.
The following table shows a comparison of neon and flourescent, to LED lighting:-
