Understanding Smartlite Products
This section is to provide information for a better understanding of the catalogue.Talk to Smartlite and we will be glad to recommend the best product for your requirements. Please note that nearly all products come in white, warm white, red, blue and also amber, yellow and green or RGB, which is colour changing and allows a multitude of colour settings or programs set through a controller.
Section 1 Led Strips:
Led strips are currently the most popular and come in two brightness categories and dimensions of 10mm and 20mm wide by 76mm and 304mm long and mounted in clips or with tape. All have their own connectors attached for easy and quick installation, furthermore they are rated water resistant. They can be operated on AC or DC but unless otherwise specified Smartlite always recommends the use of DC regulated transformers which we keep in stock. Uses for the products are vast and varied as some strips can also be made waterproof by epoxying in an acrylic housing or for safety or aesthetic purposes sometimes just placing in an acrylic housing. Most frequent uses are for pelmet or cove lighting, under bench and cabinet lighting, niche lighting, signage and water features.
Flexleds have their leds mounted on the edge of the flexible strip facing up and are best suited for signage and areas with tight curves.
Flextape is the latest addition to Smartlite's range where the leds come on a roll of thin tape and can be cut and soldered to suit the installation. It is available in colours and RGB versions. Flextape product is suitable for all similar installation as for Led strips with the added advantage of coming mounted on adesive tape and being flexible.
Section 2 Bulbs:
Led bulbs are generally distinguished by the beam angle of the light which ranges from 10 degrees through to 120 degrees depending on the particular bulb. Secondly they come in different brightnesses from 2 watt through to 7 watts with MR16, E27, GU10 and even MR11 fittings. All bulbs operate through either AC or DC although as before Smartlite recommends DC or constant current supplies. An led bulb retrofit frequently requires a change of transformers.
Section 3 Minilights:
Minilights are a range of lights that are usually fully epoxied for waterproof and weatherproof applications such as decks, pathways, spa steps and step lights. They all are 12VDC operated only and are available in standard led and RGB colours in single leds, 3 leds and 12 leds to provide different effects and brightnesses.
Section 8 Disc Lights and Single Leds:
Smartlite can manufacture any size disc lights to suit specific requirements using its range of high brightness and reliability leds. Unless products have been previously developed, a design fee may apply and also minimum quantities.
